Day by Day on the Road!
Day 1: Los Angeles [Arrival]
Welcome to LA, meet 'n' Greet with the group and you settle for tomorrows adventure.
Day 2: Los Angeles - Big Bear [215km]
This is a popular route for Los Angeles bikers.
As we leave the city, the mountains are rise very quickly, and from the top of the ridge, we except the desert but now we are on the "Rim of the World Highway".
Tonight we rest in the shade by a cool lake.
Day 3: Big Bear - Furnace Creek [390km]
High contrast this morning, as we slide from the top of the mountain to the Mojave Desert.
And in doing so, we go back in time to Calico, an ancient city of the famous gold rush. It is a taste of what we expect the afternoon.
Death Valley and a place called Bad Water, the lowest point within the USA cracked by salt, creating the "Artist Palette" at sunset. It will reveal unsuspected shades of purple, emerald green, to shades of ochre. This is extreme conditions, it is a chilling heat!
Day 4: Furnace Creek - Bakersfield [365km]
We cross the Panamint Valley via small roads, some Joshua trees will greet us.
Then we go around Sierra Nevada as a photo slide lined with orange groves and riding along the Kern River .
Day 5: Bakersfield - Oakhurst [380km]
Today is the Cream of the ride.
Some derricks will mark our way at the beginning but soon it is Sequoïa and Kings Canyon National Park.
Two trunks, after millennia, are among the largest in the world. Among others, we salute General Grant, a wonder of nature.
Do not try to photograph from the base of of these trees, they will not fit in your lense.
Day 6: Oakhurst - Sacramento [330km]
In the contrast of the forest, we turn into the most spectacular scenery.
We are now at Yosemite, a natural museum.
After two days of wonders, we descend to the administrative capital the state of California: Old Sacramento with its period architecture.
Day 7: Sacramento - San Francisco [250km]
We ride on pretty and winding roads to among the vineyards of the Sonoma Valley. Then gently we arrive at the waterfront, across the bay.
Pretty houses floating in the bay and remind us of the charming canals of Amsterdam. This is Sausalito.
This afternoon, we arrive in San Francisco via the Golden Gate Bridge.
Day 8: San Fancisco - San Louis Obispo [415km]
Today enjoy an unusual stretch of PCH. Here, the Pacific Coast Highway runs between the dark mountains and the bright ocean and finally, and lazy turns are punctuated by breathtaking vistas.
Day 9: San Louis Obispo - Los Angeles [330km]
Enjoy each of the last corners and curves along the coast of Santa Barbara and Malibu Beach.
Los Angeles is coming towards us and absorbs us in its trafic.
We return the bikes and spend a final evening in this megalopolis full of myths.
Day 10: Los Angeles [Departure]
After breakfast, and biker hugs, you are free to continue your travels.
